Food makes me happy.

Honestly, I can’t be friends with someone who says food is simply fuel for the body.

I’m a passionate home cook and writer. I believe chocolate stand alone in its own food group, and in 2016, I wrote a book (LINK TO AMAZON HERE) to help people find good chocolate in my home state of Missouri. After more than 30 years as a travel editor, I’ve retired to become the Earth Mother who feeds people comforting food and stories. My current project is a food memoir about my family and the generations of wonderful meals they shared.

I grew up in a household with my parents and grandparents, and although I didn’t appreciate it at the time, this really was an extraordinary experience for a child. In truth, my affinity for food and hospitality comes 100 percent from my mom, Katie, and grandma, Dorothy (Bubba).

In this space, I want to share some of my mom and grandma’s wisdom and recipes, as well as the few things I’ve picked up along the way. So, grab a cup of coffee and let’s dish about food, friends, and family.Food makes me happy. I come by that naturally, and I have the two women in this photo to thank for that. (By the way, what do you think about my '90s perm? Radical, right?)

In this space, I want to share some of my family's wisdom and recipes, as well as introduce you to inspiring home cooks. The Three Women in the Kitchen cookbook shares stories about my family and our best recipes. I've also written books about Missouri's chocolate makers, the history of St. Louis coffee, and a brief food history of Missouri.
